Manage Offsets

Overview

  • Companies can purchase carbon offsets as part of their carbon emission reduction strategy and create a register of them here in CarbonView.
  • CarbonView can then provide custom reports to show the Net Carbon Emissions as a result of their offsets.
  • Administrative users have the ability to setup and manage offsets.

Create/Update Offsets

Steps:

1. Navigate to Admin menu > Reduction Strategies > Manage Offsets

2. Click on the “Create Offset” button

3. Complete the following fields:

* Enter the following information. Required fields are marked with asterisks (*). Make sure that you provide the required information; otherwise, the system will not allow you to proceed.

a. Offset ID - enter a unique combination of letters and numbers to identify the offset added.The Offset ID is only created once and cannot be changed.

b. Offset Name - enter a name to identify the offset.

c. Offset Type - select either 'Credit' or 'Permit'.

d. Credit Type - enter the type if offset type is 'Credit'.

e. Provider - enter the offset provider.

f. Accreditation - enter the accreditation body.

g. Description - enter a brief description or additional information about the offset.

h. Status - enter the status of the offset.

i. Entity - enter the entity associated with the offset. Click on the View icon to select from all the entities set-up for the organization.

j. Purchased Date - enter the date when the credit or permit was purchased. Click the Calendar icon to select a date.

k. Surrender Date - enter the date when the credit or permit was surrendered. Click the Calendar icon to select a date.

l. Cost - enter the value and select a currency from the list. Default is 'AED'

m. Effective Start Date - enter the start date for when the offset emissions should be accounted. Click the Calendar icon to select a date.

n. Emission - amount of emissions that will be offset.

o. Effective End Date - enter the end date for when the offset emissions should be accounted. Click the Calendar icon to select a date.

p. Scenario - enter a scenario. . This is a text field at this time but future functionality is planned to be added around the scenario management.

4. Select one from two options:

q. Click the Save button to save the offset's information. The newly created offset is added in the Offset List displayed on screen.

r. Click the Cancel button to abort the offset creation process and return to the Manage Offsets page.
